Another wonderful reading week. I was able to read an old book from my TBR. Looking for Alaska by John Green has been on my shelf for a quite a while. Look out for my review tomorrow. My review of The Walls by Hollie Overton will be up next Monday.
Currently Reading
The Lost History of Stars by Dave Boling
In turn-of-the-century South Africa, fourteen-year-old Lettie, her younger brother, and her mother are Dutch Afrikaner settlers who have been taken from their farm by British soldiers and are being held in a concentration camp. It is early in the Boer War, and Lettie’s father, grandfather, and brother are off fighting the British as thousands of Afrikaner women and children are detained. The camps are cramped and disease ridden; the threat of illness and starvation are ever present. Determined to dictate their own fate, Lettie and her family give each other strength and hope as they fight to survive amid increasingly dire conditions.
I am currently reading this historical fiction set in South Africa in 1900. It is good though a heartbreaking read so far but I wish I had read it sooner.

Hush Little Baby by Joanna Barnard has some really good reviews on goodreads. I hope that I will enjoy it.
Small Great Things by Jodi Piccoult is a book that I have always wanted to read. I will finally get to it this week.
I am really excited about reading older books from my TBR. In the coming weeks, you will be seeing more of these books on my WWWs. I will still be posting about ARCs because who am I kidding, I can’t stop getting new books. However, I hope that my reading for the rest of the year will be more balanced.

As much as I love ARCs I’ve had a great time reading so many of my own books over the summer and I’m reluctant to lose momentum now…
I get what you mean. I have many unread books on my bookshelf so it feels good to finally read them. I hope that I will be able to maintain the balance instead of only reading ARCs as I have done in the past .

Can’t wait to see your review of Looking for Alaska. (Unpopular opinion time) I absolutely hate that book but it makes reading and comparing other people’s thoughts on it so fascinating.

I have seen mixed reviews on goodreads. Some people really hated it and some loved it. I think I am somewhere in the middle because I did like parts of it 😀
I’ve been meaning to read Small Great Things for a long time. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it! And the cover for Hush Little Baby has me seriously intrigued. I’ll have to look it up.
Right now I’m reading three books, but I’m focusing on The Salt Line by Holly Goddard Jones at the moment. I really like it so far. Up next is Good Me, Bad Me by Ali Land. I’ve started it, but have only read a few pages so far.
I just started reading Great Small Things and it definitely lives up to the hype though it does have some really sensitive themes. Hush Little Baby is an interesting thriller.

The Lost History of Stars sounds like a very heavy read, but an important one. I need to get back to trying to get some of the older books on my TBR ticked of as well. I did start off well at the start of the year, then all the shinies distracted me.
The shinies tend to do that 🙂 I started my year with so many ARCs and they just kept piling up. At some point, my shelf had 40 books. However, I am now down to five so I can slow down.
I hope you get your ARCs under control too and enjoy some of your older books. Happy reading 🙂
