Review
You know that minute when you are reading a book and then you just know for certain that you have stumbled upon something amazing? I knew that I would love this book by the time that I turned the second chapter! I was just certain about it and I still remember how excited that made me feel. I quickly finished my chores and ended up reading the entire book in one sitting. I am so glad that my initial feeling about the book turned out to be spot on.
This story is narrated through three main POVs. Toni is the missing girl. She happened to have seen something that she wasn’t supposed to and now someone is determined to silence her in the most horrific way. The vigilante is Mitchell. I liked this guy from the word go! Mitchell had his reasons for wanting to find Toni and I liked how determined he was in his search for answers. DS Warren is a detective just about to retire when he gets caught up in the most complex case of his career.
I really liked how the story was narrated. At first, I kept wondering how the three would get connected. I was especially curious about the detective and the vigilante because they seemed to be working on two different cases. The connection was simply brilliant. I couldn’t have predicted it and was honestly in awe of the author’s prowess in seamlessly connecting all the dots.
The investigation was very well portrayed. I have read many crime thrillers but this time I can confidently say that I worked the case with the investigators. I was in the dark when they were and only got answers when they did. I remember one of the reveals made me pause and think about everything that had happened. It made so much sense but yet, I never could have guessed it. There was something extra special about the way Sibel portrayed this investigation!
I feel like I learned so much about the dark web by reading this story. It is something that I had heard about but had no idea on how it is accessed or what it is all about. This investigation being so systematic helped me make sense of this dark part of the internet.
Into the Darkness by Sibel Hodge is an addictive thriller with a clever plot. The characters are memorable and so is the story-line. Sibel’s writing is exquisite. She has a way of telling stories that enables you to completely get immersed in the characters’ world. I also feel like a lot of research went into this story which made it even more interesting.
This book is simply brilliant and I can’t recommend it enough.
This sounds like it was a brilliantly written book! 🙂 I love it when you discover a gem!
Me too. So happy that I had a chance to read this one. Thanks Chrissi 🙂
Great review, this sounds like an exciting and dark read! So glad you enjoyed it 🙂
It really was. Thanks Zuky 🙂
Love that this was amazing from the start! Brilliant review
I did too. There wasn’t a dull moment with this one. Thanks Holly 🙂
In one sitting!? How awesome. I am in love with that cover and the synopsis sounds excellent! It’s also cool that it taught you certain things like dark web! Excellent review, Diana.
Yeah, lucky for me it was a Sunday so I had a few hours to read 🙂 Thanks Nikola. This one was quite well researched and detailed.
I love that feeling when a book just clicks immediately – usually for me though, I can’t read something in one sitting due to life stuff, LOL! But I love it when I can’t wait to return to a book again! So glad you had a great time with this one.
Yeah, I get that. Lucky for me, Sunday afternoons tend to be good for such reading. Thanks Laila 🙂
Fantastic review, Diana! I love completely immersive stories. I also liked the fact that she researched this. I will have to read it at some point.
Thanks Jennifer. This ended up being both entertaining and informative.
This definitely sounds like a good read. The part where a vigilante and a detective work together sounds very similar to the book I just finished reading. But I know this book definitely isn’t the same because it definitely focuses more on the dark web than the book I just finished reading. Either way, I’m really glad you enjoyed reading it. 🙂
Which book was that Raney? Have you reviewed it yet?Thank you.
No, I haven’t reviewed it just yet. I’m working on it though for sure. But the book is called Look For Me by Lisa Gardner if you’re wondering. Just letting you know though it’s the 9th book in a series. I didn’t realize that until after I started reading it. But I really liked the book overall and it has me interested in reading the other books in the series.
Awesome review Diana! I do know that feeling when you are just starting out but already completely in a trance and pulled into the book. 🙂
Best feeling! Certainly beats trying to get through the chapters not knowing whether you will like the book or not or worse still, wondering whether to DNF. Thanks Carrie 🙂
Definitely! Once starting one of those I know it’s going to be a positive review regardless if things don’t quite shine all the way since it’s just a relaxed feeling knowing the writing drew me in. 🙂
You’ve convinced me DIana! I remember I loved a book by this author so I will add this one to the TBR 😀
That must have been Duplicity. I think I read it at the same time as you. Glad to hear that you will add this one 🙂
Amazing review Diana, I love that feeling! I had it recently with Block 46 now I can’t stop thinking about it! 😍

I need to read this!
I read one book by this author, and funnily enough it started with a woman being kept hostage as well.
Sounds like this is another fast paced thriller of hers!
Great review 🙂
Glad you enjoyed this Diana. I still don’t know what the dark web is. 🤦🏽♀️
The dark web is a crazy, hidden world that exists in the internet. Can’t be accessed through Google or any regular search engines. It contains all kinds of dark stuff mostly, criminal. That’s a little bit about it.Thanks Laurie.
